About

SOS-Initiatives was founded by Cleveland entrepreneur Donna Dixon Stovall, who recognized a critical and often overlooked need among grandparents raising their grandchildren. Many of these caregivers, already in their retirement years, struggle to meet daily needs—especially food—while supporting a new generation. With childhood hunger remaining a national crisis, Donna launched SOS-Initiatives with a powerful mission: to reduce food waste and feed vulnerable families through strategic community partnerships.

Through the Granny Lift Project, SOS-Initiatives partners with the IRS and participating restaurant donors to collect approved surplus food that would otherwise be discarded. This movement not only helps mitigate food waste but also provides essential meals to hungry children and supports distressed inter-generational households working hard to stay afloat.
