Missing parents of youth is a reality and has increased exponentially over the past few years… missing due to incarceration, sickness, death, addictions… or simply missing and have left young children traumatized and grieving. Sometimes grandparents are willing to take the children into their homes, but feeding them everyday presents a barrier. (The Meals On Wheels program feeds seniors only) SOS can sometimes bridge the food gap issue with it’s novel program of help and weekly free food delivered to the door of qualifying inter-generational households that do not have a car.

Select restaurant headquarters liked SOS's proposed idea, that enabled grassroots philanthropic efforts within the law and without the liability and heavy costs of feeding hungry the hungry. SOS conducted due diligence for passing background checks & driver checks, conducted all mandatory Federal FDA food & safety continuous training as well as heavy lifting training with PPE body gear for volunteers. After a year of probation, SOS passed with flying colors. Participating donor restaurants have come to look forward to SOS food donation pickups multiple times per week and are proud to participate in legally feeding the hungry, without the added work and without the liability. “Volunteer drivers deliver collected food directly to community members, ensuring meals reach those in need quickly, safely, and with a personal touch.”

In the last 12 months, SOS received and dispersed 41.7 tons of cooked-then-frozen nutritious restaurant food… yes, 41.7 tons, while-keeping SOS five volunteer driver teams safe & up to date with mandatory training for FDA compliance courses while creating community leaders- helped thwart child foster care system candidates as SOS weekly delivers food to the door because Grandparent households we serve have no car in the household…. And, SOS delivers year-around without fail!. 4 volunteer driver teams treat our recipients with great dignity and service compassionately using their personal vehicles delivering to ~10 HH’s on each of their routes -40 HH’s with 4 individuals per equals 160 fed weekly, year-around
